Recently our friend Megin Sherry came over and got all artsy-fartsy on us by painting a wall pattern in our bedroom. Here’s a visual journey of the process.

Here’s Megin. She’s a total fashion art wiz and a master at interior decorating (fun fact: she made Danielle’s wedding dress as well as our “MARRIAGED” banner that you might have seen in past wedding tour entries). The pattern she painted was inspired from a bakery in Brooklyn called “Cafe Bliss”. It’s known as a “scallop pattern” to those in the pattern world.

Albeit daunting and intricate, Megin dove right into the project with an open mind and a big smile on her face.

First, all the colors had to be mixed and separated into containers.

Then, goofy pictures had to be taken on her iphone.

Then, the gradual process of painting the pattern began.

At this point in the process, things got difficult. The red paints for the first row had dried up in the garage due to the covers falling off. So we made the executive decision to reverse the pattern, and use whatever colors were left. It turned out fun.

And volia! A crazy wall pattern for our bedroom. Kind of looks like a kid’s room now. Perfect.

that makes me want to paint scallops on my walls.
well done.
